The Film
On the outside, this movie seems to be s showcase of some of the best dance crews around. We highlight the fact that they are performing in a format that is the only of its kind in the world.
But Battlefest Live 360 is just an introduction to the life of a dancer. Battlefest merely introduces you to a story of passion. Dancers struggle daily with harsh reality the only the highest levels of dance pay a decent living. So reality sets in, that you must have a life outside of dance. And in order to keep sane from the life that pulls you from dance, they must dance.
Nevertheless, this movie will showcase the real world of urban dance crews. And at the center, literally, is the toughest competition in the Urban Dance Crew world, Battlefest Live 360, located in the San Jose, CA. San Jose is home to most of the original dance crews that began to take from B-Boying, in the late 1980's and early 1990's and developed their own style, now known as Urban Dance. The 360 in Battlefest Live is the reason some consider this to be the hardest of all the dance competitions. The crews compete in a complete "360" environment with wall behind them as you would see if the performance was in a theater. They perform in the center of the audience and have to alter their routines to cater to all view angles. This format allows the audience to be, literally, a breath away from the performer. 2009's Battlefest Live 360 takes place in February and showcases a performance from MTV's America's Best Dance Crew finalist, Supreme Soul.
